Elaine Peto is an artist and sculptor based in Hampshire, renowned for her animal ceramic sculptures. She graduated from Exeter College of Art & Design in 1985 and attended livestock markets to study, photograph and draw the animals. Elaine also visited the abattoirs to record the structure of the carcass.
Subjects range from farm animals to exotic wild animals, stags, dogs and horses, hares and more recently mythological pieces. In 2005, she went to South Africa and Botswana for three months, to study the anatomy of wild animals at close hand.
Her works are in the collections of The Alton Museum (Allen Gallery), Arrucci Collection and Hertford Arts Education.
