Ted moved to Guernsey in 1965 as a teacher of handicraft at St Josephʼs Secondary School. He trained in Arts and Crafts style woodwork.
His early sculptures were in wood but he eventually settled for limestone carving, using recycled Caen stone from St Josephʼs Church.
His subjects are draped or caped figures, mother and child images or shape for shape’s sake pieces. The essential part being light and shade and shadow created by the piece being lit from the side.
