Kate Dicker’s wood engraving prints show a cutting style that is bold and graphic. Initial ideas are first drawn either on a large scale or as quick, minimal sketches. The subject matter is varied: countryside, Italian views or, illustrations such as those commissioned by The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum for their Medieval Recipe Book by Maggie Black. Kate was selected for the Southern Arts Colle Verde Residency in 2000 during which she produced the engravings Tuscan Trees, Lucca and Vineyards.
Kate Dicker is an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers and The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and teaches wood engraving at West Dean College in West Sussex and at The Badger Press in Hampshire.
