Charlie Buchanan is an artist/illustrator and art educator living in Guernsey. She trained in Fine Art Painting at Falmouth School of Art before travelling widely, living in Spain then returning to her island home of Guernsey.

Charlie has published 3 books with her husband, writer Magnus Buchanan, and her work mixes her Fine Art background with her passion for Illustration.

She paints in watercolour, ink and mixed media working on a fairly large scale. All the images from her books work as standalone paintings, each acting as a mysterious inroad to the world of the stories they depict. Her work is characterised by singing colour, dream-like imagery and often the figure in landscape. Charlie’s works are about seeing the world with a sense of awe and how the magic of stories can help us to see our own landscapes both exterior and interior with fresh eyes.

Guernsey is a constant source of inspiration to her and its folklore, changing moods and colours flood her work.
