Barry Owen Jones RWS RE
Barry was born in London in 1934. He attended Hornsey College of Art between 1950 and 1955, gaining a National Diploma of Design in Graphic Design. While at Hornsey he studied etching under Norman Janes and lithography with Henry Holzer and Allin Braund.
He worked in London in advertising and publishing until 1974, gaining awards of merit in book design from the Design and Art Directors Association of London and moved to Guernsey in 1974. A co-founder of the Coach-house Gallery, he began painting and etching again at this time.
Elected an Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1979 and was elected a Fellow of the Society in 1982 (R.E.). He also became an Associate of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-colours the same year and was elected a Fellow of this Society in 1986 (R.W.S.).
He exhibited regularly with the R.W.S and the R.E. at the Bankside Gallery London and has work in the permanent collections of Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery, South London Art Gallery and other collections worldwide.
